Minister receives NCR action plan
NCR factory gates
The job cuts were announced last month
A task force set up to combat the economic effects of NCR's job cuts on Dundee has outlined its action plan to the Scottish Executive.

Last month the US firm said it was to shed 650 posts in the city, effectively ending 60 years of mass manufacturing.

The rapid response group has asked Deputy First Minister Nicol Stephen for more than 1m in the short-term.

Its action plan has been finalised in a 28-page document, which has also suggested long-term measures.

Mr Stephen, who is also the enterprise minister, arrived in Dundee the day after the NCR announcement to help set up the rapid response group and pledge significant financial support.

The action plan has focused on a series of proposals, including direct support for employees facing redundancy and support for local companies which supply NCR.

In the longer-term the group has called for tens of millions of pounds to be invested in infrastructure projects and jobs in Dundee.
