School closure plans move forward
Falkirk Council has asked for the public's views on the planned closure of the school in Torwood.

The authority said it was planning to transfer its staff and 21 pupils to new Maddiston or North Larbert schools.

Meanwhile, the council said it had paid out thousands of pounds under a scheme to encourage pupils to stay at school.

Almost one in three pupils in fifth and sixth year received payments under the educational maintenance allowance in 2005-06, amounting to 435,680.
