Call for squirrel safety bridge
Red squirrel
Campaigners claim that too many squirrels have been run over
Councillors have been asked to consider a plea for a squirrel rope bridge to protect the animals while crossing a busy main road.

Several red squirrels have been killed while crossing the A933 road, just north of Arbroath, a local conservation group has claimed.

Campaigners have now urged Angus Council to back the 1,000 bridge option to help the declining species.

The authority said it would also consider warning signs for motorists.

Dundee City Council has already taken similar action to protect red squirrels by erecting rope bridges, including one in the Templeton area.
