Perth boosted by job announcement
More than 100 new jobs are being created at Scottish and Southern Energy's headquarters in Perth, the power giant has announced.

The news came a day after Insurance company Norwich Union said it was shedding 200 posts in the town.

The new jobs will be based in Scottish and Southern's customer service centre.

Chief operating officer Colin Hood said: "We believe local people have the skills we need to take our company forward."

The energy company currently employs more than 1,000 staff in Perth.

The Norwich Union cuts are part of 4,000 UK-wide job reductions.
