Drug user admits heroin killing
Heroin - generic
Ryan Robertson died after receiving a dose of heroin
A man has admitted supplying a dose of heroin which killed a fellow drug user in Dundee.

Ryan Robertson, 22, died in a flat on the city's Honeygreen Road, after injecting himself with a syringe passed to him by his friend.

At the High Court in Edinburgh Stewart Davie, 28, pleaded guilty to culpable homicide. He admitted supplying the heroin on 6 September last year.

The men had been living in a block of council flats used by homeless people.

Advocate depute Alastair Brown, prosecuting, said: "It is possible the deceased's tolerance had been reduced by abstinence because he had been incarcerated for other matters for a period."

Bail allowed

The court was told both men were drug users and, on the day of the incident, Davie had prepared two syringes of heroin, using one on himself.

He later called two friends to say that Mr Robertson had stopped breathing and they arrived to find him attempting mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

An ambulance crew called to the flat was unable to revive Mr Robertson.

Judge Lady Dorrian deferred sentence for background reports and allowed Davie to remain on bail pending the outcome.
