More than six million tyres are made at the factory each year |
The workforce of a Dundee factory is to be told that a multi-million pound investment plan could lead to the loss of up to 100 jobs. Staff at the Michelin base will hear about the development on Wednesday.
Management has refused to comment on the jobs situation, but it is understood that any redundancies would be on a voluntary basis.
Michelin is one of Dundee's biggest employers with a workforce of about 1,000.
During a series of meetings earlier this week, the company's latest position was outlined to workers.
It is understood as much as 20m could be invested into the plant over the next five years.
The factory produces about 6.5 million tyres a year, but with production levels forecast to fall in the future, that is likely to mean a slimming down of the workforce over a number of years.
