Bogus callers have been targeting older residents Stirling and Clackmannanshire, police have warned.

Callers posing as workmen have managed to steal sums of cash ranging from 25 to more than 700.

Central Scotland Police said people as old as 86 and others seen as "vulnerable" were being targeted.

Officers have asked householders to check doorstep callers' identification and never hand over money or bank account details.

Incidents have taken place in Cambusbarron, Bannockburn, Riverside, St Ninians, Braehead, Fishcross and Tullibody over the past month.
