The manual aims to help all workers caring for the terminally ill.
A new drive to ensure that patients coming to the end of their lives receive the best care has been launched in the Forth Valley area.

Experts have compiled a detailed information manual, thought to be the most comprehensive of its kind, to help those caring for the terminally ill.

It contains information ranging from the control of symptoms and pain relief, to practical assistance.

It will be sent to NHS staff as well as care home workers across the region.

Palliative care expert Dr Elizabeth Ireland said: "Ensuring that people receive the best possible treatment is as important in the care of the dying as at any other stage of life.

"We are pleased to be launching this manual which will prove to be a valuable resource across NHS Forth Valley."

The manual was compiled with the help of more than 70 contributors.
