Danny MacAskill will show off his skills in Dumfries next month

A stunt biker who has proved a huge hit on YouTube is to show his skills live at a festival in southern Scotland.

Danny MacAskill's mini film, Inspired Bicycles, has racked up more than a million hits on the video website.

The 23-year-old, originally from the Isle of Skye but living in Edinburgh, will perform at the Original Bicycle Festival in Dumfries and Galloway.

He will take part in four separate events with The Clan stunt team including one in Dumfries town centre.

Mr MacAskill performs a wide range of stunts in his video.

They include a backflip off a tree, riding across the top of spiked cast iron railings and a series of leaps off tall buildings.

Now people in south west Scotland can see him perform live at four different venues.

His first appearance is at the Dalbeattie junior mountain bike fun day on 10 May with his final one in Dumfries a fortnight later.

The Original Bicycle Festival runs from 9 to 24 May across Dumfries and Galloway.

It is designed to celebrate the region's links with cycling including its mountain bike trails and status as the birthplace of the pedal cycle.
