Police phone call progress noted
A major improvement has been delivered in the handling of non-emergency calls to police in Dumfries and Galloway.

The rate of unanswered phone enquiries or callers hanging up has fallen from 23% three years ago to 7.7% last year.

The improvement - shown in an Audit Scotland report - has been linked to the development of a new force communications centre.

Radio technology and the launch of a single number for non-urgent enquiries have also been credited for the change.
