The three-year deal with BT is worth nearly 25m |
A Borders firm has secured an exclusive three-year contract with telecoms giant BT worth almost 25m. Emtelle's Jedburgh plant will benefit from the deal to provide all of BT's uPVC ducts and fittings.
Finance director Angus Towers said the new contract would "provide a boost" for both the business and the wider Borders community.
He said it would give increased job security to workers at the Jedburgh site where the products will be made.
BT conducted a worldwide tendering process before awarding the contract.
It continues a 20-year relationship between the two companies.
Added security
"This new contract will also provide a boost to the economy of the Borders area of Scotland, where Emtelle's manufacturing facilities are based," said Mr Towers.
"Workers at the Jedburgh plant, which manufactures the products in question, will enjoy an added level of job security."
Emtelle has recently invested in new technology at the facility and further investment is promised after securing the BT contract.
The company has also worked with Scottish Borders Council and Scottish Enterprise Borders to assist in training programmes to give new skills to its workers.
