Heavy rain hits south-west roads
Police have issued a warning to drivers after heavy rain affected roads across Dumfries and Galloway.

Severe flooding has been reported on the A75 at Ringford, near Castle Douglas, and motorists have been asked to take extra care in the area.

Similar problems have hit the A76 about ten miles north of Sanquhar on a section of the road stretching across the Ayrshire border.

Drivers have been asked to reduce their speed on the flood-hit roads.

A warning was also issued in Dumfries with the river Nith expected to flood onto the Whitesands at about 1700 GMT.
