A two-week police operation is aiming to reduce anti-social behaviour by youngsters on Dumfries bus routes. Operation Cowboy will see high visibility patrols carried out in the Lochside and Lincluden areas.
It comes in response to complaints from local residents and bus drivers about the behaviour of youngsters.
A police spokesman said the operation was important as they did not want to see the public too afraid to use local bus services.

Pc Lorraine McHarrie said that a similar operation had previously proved successful.
"Operation Cowboy ran last year and was very effective in dealing with the problems bus drivers and passengers were experiencing," she said.
"Buses are an essential mode of transport for many people in the town and we do not want anyone to be too afraid to use them.
"Operation Cowboy aims to promote passenger and driver safety while deterring vandalism and other acts of antisocial behaviour."
She added that anyone caught behaving antisocially would be reported to the reporter to the children's panel or the procurator fiscal.
