The accident happened about lunchtime on Friday
A driver who failed to stop for an unmarked police car on the A75 near Dumfries was killed in a crash on the road moments later, police have said.

Officers tried to stop the grey Nissan Bluebird at about 1320 BST on Friday.

A short time later the driver was killed in a collision with a Skoda Octavia east of the Collin bypass.

Three other people were seriously injured in the crash and have been taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The road has been blocked for some time and police have advised motorists to avoid the area and find alternative routes where possible.

A police statement said an investigation would take place and a report submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Police are urgently appealing for anyone who saw the grey Nissan Bluebird on the A75 in the time leading up to the crash to contact them.
