Tesco safeguards famous frontage
The former Galashiels textile college
The famous building frontage looks set to be preserved
Supermarket giant Tesco is to save the historic front of the old textile college in Galashiels.

Campaigners in the town have protested for some time that the Edwardian structure should be preserved.

The building will still be demolished as part of the firm's plans to construct an expanded store.

However, the frontage will be dismantled stone by stone and is proposed to be used as a facade for a future hosing development in the area.
