Parliament makes Jedburgh visit
Jedburgh
Jedburgh was the location for the petitions committee meeting
Community hospitals and funding for the Citizens Advice Bureau topped the agenda at a meeting in Jedburgh.

The Scottish Parliament's public petitions committee was holding its formal committee meeting in the town hall on Monday evening.

The convener of the committee, Michael McMahon MSP, said the visit underlined its commitment to public accessibility.

Community groups welcomed the meeting as a chance to air their views in a local forum.

"We are committed to making the petitions system and the parliament accessible to members of the public from across Scotland," said Mr McMahon.

The meeting was followed by a question and answer session on the public petitions system.

Rev James Watson was presenting a petition on community hospitals on behalf of Coldstream Churches Together.

"By coming to Jedburgh, the committee is providing a real opportunity for the people of the Borders to raise issues which are of concern not just to them but to people throughout Scotland," he said.
