Paddy Tomkins has received the Queens Police Medal

Paddy Tomkins receives the Queen's Police Medal for his services.

He was appointed to the post of chief constable for the region, in January 2002, after starting his police career with Sussex Police in 1979.

Mr Tomkins, 45, has also served with the Special Branch and was commended as the first sergeant at the scene of the IRA Brighton bombing in 1984.
