Festive target for road works end
Galashiels traffic
Galashiels drivers are facing delays in the days ahead
Driving delays are on the cards in Galashiels as work continues on the new town centre traffic scheme.

Hold-ups are likely to be at their most lengthy for motorists using Ladhope Vale and the Station Brae.

Temporary traffic lights are to be installed on an experimental basis but they will be removed if they produce considerable queues in the town.

Council leader David Parker said it was hoped the work could be finished before the Christmas shopping period.

"My concern and the focus of everybody working on the project is to get it finished for the end of November," he said.

"The public of Galashiels has been exceptionally patient with the work we have done.

"If there are horrific snarl-ups in Galashiels we will take steps to ensure that we get traffic moving."
