 Houses opposite Abbotsford are being recommended for approval |
Planners are recommending approval of a �15m housing scheme opposite the historic home of Sir Walter Scott. They are backing an application from Kelso builders M & J Ballantyne for some 79 houses at Netherbarns facing Abbotsford House near Melrose.
The application has attracted opposition from groups like Historic Scotland and Scottish Natural Heritage.
It will be considered by Scottish Borders Council's development control committee on 8 May.
