Mobile phone crackdown on drivers
A special operation is to be carried out in Dumfries to tackle motorists using mobile phones while driving.

Community police are teaming up with their colleagues in mobile support for the initiative, which will be carried out on one day every month.

The scheme means anyone caught using their mobile phone while driving during this period will be issued with a fixed penalty notice carrying a fine of 30.

The latest operation is scheduled to take place on 18 May.
