Status Quo to headline festival

The band will headline one of the festival's two nights

Rock legends Status Quo are to perform at a major concert for a charity in the Highlands.

The band is to headline Rock4Life in Inverness on 1 May, in aid of Highland Hospice.

Crowds of 20,000 are expected to attend on each day of the two-day festival at Bogbain Farm, on the outskirts of the Highland capital.

The organisers have said they will unveil another major rock act at a later date.

Tobias Leask, director of Caledonian Productions, said: "Rock4Life will be the biggest music day in the Highlands for years. We believe Rock4Life will be the biggest open air concert to be staged in the region.

"To have Status Quo coming here is amazing and it's all in aid of a great cause."

Quo frontman Francis Rossi said: "Playing to our fans is still and has always been the most important thing for the band.

"Nothing beats playing live and we always look forward to performing to a lively Scottish crowd."

Rock For Life will be opened by former Runrig vocalist Donnie Munro, to be followed by The Vatersay Boys.

Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel will be on stage prior to Status Quo performing.
