Nationalists resign senior posts

SNP councillors have formally resigned senior posts held with Highland Council following their split from the authority's administration.

Their former partners, the Independents, have been in talks with other political parties on forming a new ruling coalition.

However, they were expected to continue to operate as a minority administration through the summer.

All 80 councillors met on Thursday, the first time since the break-up.
