Bad driving at a nuclear complex will be punished with a one-month ban, preventing the offender from bringing their vehicle onto the site. During the past year, 30 violations of the Highway Code have been reported on roads at Dounreay in Caithness.
Workers have been seen driving while holding mobiles, speeding, and not stopping for pedestrians at crossings.
Writing in the site's newspaper, management warned that someone could be injured if driving was not improved.
'Chilly walk'
An article in March's issue of the Dounreay News said UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) staff and contractors were not meeting a challenge to drive more responsibly.
It said: "Unfortunately, we haven't been doing too well recently.
"It seems as though the challenge is being re-set every few days. So we all need to do a lot better."
Workers were warned they faced a "chilly walk" from the site car park if banned from bringing their vehicles onto the site.
