CairnGorm Mountain said its funicular railway was popular |
Ski centre CairnGorm Mountain has reported a bumper week for visitors, almost a year after one of the worst Scottish ski seasons of recent times. About 8,000 skiers and snowboarders and 5,000 non-sports visitors flocked to the resort over the past seven days.
Last March, CairnGorm and other resorts blamed a lack of snow and the presence of high winds for affecting numbers.
CairnGorm said the past week had shown there was a "huge market" for skiing in Scotland.
A spokesman said: "For an industry that is supposed to be disappearing altogether, there were a lot of happy visitors at the end of each day throughout the past week.
"With conditions likely to remain similar throughout the coming week, we are confident that this success will continue."
The 5,000 non-skiers enjoyed trips on the resort's funicular railway.
