The handlers are prepared to work in any weather
Nine search and rescue dogs and their handlers are to be tested in a training exercise in Glencoe.

Over the next four days the teams will be tasked with finding 81 volunteers posing as missing climbers.

The exercise - which will run from Thursday to Sunday - is held annually by the Search and Rescue Dog Association Scotland.

Most of the dogs involved are attached to mountain rescue teams, but others work with the RAF and police.

Pc Allison Todd, a member of Grampian Police Mountain Rescue Team, was hoping her collie Midge would do well.

She said: "I have been training for this for nearly two years.

"Midge has a brilliant nose, a great temperament and loves people. You could not want a better dog for the job - I only hope the assessors agree."

Innes Beaton, of Assynt Mountain Rescue Team, added: "Although all the training to date has been success it is nerve-racking wondering whether Skye and I will make the grade."

Handlers will be told on Sunday if they have been successful.
