From the outside it looks like a garden shed, but this is the beating heart of a rural community. Poyntzfield Post Office on the Black Isle north of Inverness is only open for a day-and-a-half each week.
However, postmistress Mary Finlayson said her little shack has become increasingly important.
She said sub-post offices are a focal point for many of Scotland's rural communities and their loss is a further erosion of lifeline services.
Ms Finlayson fears the worst for her post office after the government's announcement that cuts need to be made.
She said: "I think the writing's on the cards for it.
"The post office is very important in that it's part of the community. There's so much other things that are closing.
"About two years ago the pub closed and it had been open for 250 years. The school - they are amalgamating it.
"It's just very important in rural areas that we do keep a meeting point, something we can identify with."
