A park authority has urged any potential new owner of Cairngorm Estate not to be too hasty in removing mothballed ski tows from the area. Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) convener David Green said the future of the tow at Coire na Ciste needed careful consideration.
CNPA was responding to the consultation exercise on the transfer of the estate.
The authority said it would be supportive of Forestry Commission Scotland taking over.
The estate also includes the CairnGorm funicular mountain railway.
Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) currently owns the 3,000-acre estate within the Cairngorms National Park.
New projects
HIE announced last year they wanted to offload the site.
CairnGorm Mountain who operate the funicular have a long term lease on the �15m development so any change in ownership would not affect skiing.
HIE intend to recycle the money raised into new development projects.
It said initial soundings backed the idea of Forestry Commission Scotland taking over ownership of the entire area.
