Maggie's Highland Cancer Caring Centre is to win a major award |
The Inverness-based Maggie's Highland Cancer Caring Centre is to be presented with a national award. It is claimed the centre's distinctive design, based on the division of healthy cells in the body, encourages debate on cancer.
The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors in Scotland (RICS) award for community benefit recognises the dramatic design of the building.
RICS Scotland said good buildings were more than just bricks and mortar.
The organisation involves professionals working in land, property, construction and environmental issues.
John Richmond, from the Maggie's Highlands Centre, said: "It's amazing to see our visitors' reactions as they enter this remarkable building designed by David Page of Page and Park.
"Light and space are key features of the design, which uplifts the spirit of the visitor and enables relaxation. To have achieved this through design is quite remarkable."
The RICS Award has been running for more than 15 years and celebrates the best of the built environment.
