Highlands airports flying higher

Inverness airport and city are expected to benefit from further services
Air passenger numbers in the Highlands and Islands have reached an all-time high, according to figures released by Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd.

In the year ending 31 March the 10 airports handled well over a million passengers, with numbers up by more than 50,000.

The year gave Inverness, Stornoway and Barra their busiest 12 months.

Meanwhile, Ryanair's new Inverness to Liverpool service is expected to create �10m a year for the local economy.

The service, which is due to start in October, will support up to 100 jobs.
