Rules on who gets a home opposed
Houses - generic
New rules are being suggested about who gets homes in the park
Highland councillors have voted to oppose proposed restrictions on who can and cannot buy homes in Cairngorms National Park.

The park authority has also suggested planning permission should be sought for a house to become a holiday home.

Councillors said they want to continue talking to the organisation about ways to tackle a shortage of affordable housing in the area.

The park authority said the views will go before its board in October.

Council officials had recommended that the planning committee oppose the draft plan for the park.

Planners criticised the park authority's proposal to introduce residency restrictions on new home buyers.

One plan is to limit new homes to those who have been a resident there for at least three years, or work there.

However, council officials said it ignored the economic contribution made by those who commute to jobs elsewhere.
