The city chambers in Glasgow is to be used as a giant screen for a projection that will depict the life and times of Robert Burns.

The 15-minute work, accompanied by music and a narrative soundtrack, will be run on a loop on the George Square landmark for three nights.

A host of performers will feature in the Burns' Night finale on Sunday.

Burns Illuminated is part of Homecoming 2009 celebrations to mark the 250th anniversary of the poet's birth.

Glasgow's Mitchell Library is home to one of the biggest Burns' collections in the world, including the original manuscript of Auld Lang Syne.

Pieces from the collection will be used during Burns Illuminated, which is being delivered by projection artist, Ross Ashton.

The celebrations on Burns' Night will include a fireworks display and feature performers, Andy Cameron, The Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Michelle McManus.
