 The Tiree Wave Classic is expected to attract more than 700 people |
Some of the world's best windsurfers will be heading back to Scotland in October for the Tiree Wave Classic. Organisers confirmed that this year's event, which has a prize fund of �5,000, will run from 11 to 18 October. The annual challenge, which has been running since 1986, attracts more than 700 visitors to the Hebridean island and is worth about �1m to the economy. Other activities taking place include cliff jumping, kitesurfing, blo-karting and zapcat racing. Tourism Minister Jim Mather said: "The event showcases Argyll & Bute and Scotland as a location for international events. "It brings together sportsmen and women from around the world and gives them a chance to experience the magic of Argyll and the islands."
