The film will show shoppers how to spot child abuse
A film aimed at raising awareness about child abuse is being screened at shopping centres in Paisley and Glasgow.

More than one million shoppers are expected to see the advert which encourages people to come forward if they see or know of any abuse.

The 60-second film is being shown on large video walls at Paisley, Braehead and St Enoch shopping centres.

Child protection staff will also be on hand to offer advice.

It is hoped the film, jointly produced by Renfrewshire and Glasgow child protection committees, will help fight against child abuse by encouraging people to come forward if they have concerns.

Shared responsibility

Its message is that it is everyone's job to help protect children from abuse.

Tim Huntingford, chair of the Renfrewshire Child Protection Committee, said: "Children can't protect themselves. The adults have to do it for them. Relatives and neighbours can all play their part."

"Everyone must be more willing to express their concerns if we are going to prevent serious abuse."

Gillian Buchanan, child protection officer for Glasgow, said the message of the film is that protecting children is not just the responsibility of the police or social workers but a shared responsibility.
