Top musician lands academic role
Phil Cunningham
Phil Cunningham will start his new role in September
One of Scotland's best known traditional musicians has been appointed artistic director at a top music and drama institute.

Phil Cunningham will start his new, part-time teaching role at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) in September.

The appointment comes as the academy is reportedly facing cuts of up to 20 jobs to address a 600,000 shortfall.

The accordionist is well known for his collaboration with fiddler Aly Bain.

Mr Cunningham was instrumental in setting up the traditional music teaching course at the RSAMD.
