Experts are working "round the clock" to try to reopen the section of the A83 damaged by a landslip in Argyll, the transport minister has said. A long stretch of the road was shut after a major landslide at the Rest and be Thankful, west of Loch Lomond, on Sunday, 28 October.
It reopened briefly last week but was closed again because of heavy rain.
It is not known when the road will reopen, but Stewart Stevenson said engineers were working flat out.
Traffic is being diverted, adding as much as two hours to some journeys.
Engineers are considering a "controlled landslip" to remove debris from the road.
Transport body Scotland Transerv said specialists were working "flat out to find an engineering solution".
The road was closed after 400 tonnes of soil and rock, loosened by several months of rainfall, tumbled down onto the road.
Speaking on a visit to the scene, Mr Stevenson said: "I can understand the concerns of local people and businesses and the crucial importance of the road for the area.
"Let there be no uncertainty, the experts are working around the clock to try and make the road safe enough to reopen again."
A helicopter has been brought in from Inverness to help move more of the debris from the area.
