Green plays host to film festival
BBC Film Festival
The festival offers a wide range of activities for film lovers
Stars of the big screen are out at Glasgow Green as part of the first-ever BBC Film Festival.

The multi-media event celebrates cinema and film-making and offers film fans and families the chance to enjoy, talk about and make their own films.

Among those turning out for event are Sir Ben Kingsley, Brian Cox, Ewen Bremner and TV presenter Danny Wallace.

It also includes the BBC Big Band playing film soundtracks, a Spider-Man 3 showing and Bollywood performances.

Alan Yentob, the BBC's Creative Director said the festival is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the BBC's commitment to film.

He said: "I'm delighted Glasgow was chosen as the host city for the event, especially given the Glaswegian reputation for being voracious cinema-goers.

"I hope the Festival will be seen as an opportunity not just to watch great films for free, but to find out more about how films are produced and even how to make a film of your own."

The BBC Film Festival is working in association with Glasgow City Council, as well as British film industry organisations.

Steven Purcell, leader of Glasgow City Council, said: "Glasgow's love affair with film began many, many years ago when Glaswegians attended local cinemas in their droves."
