Plans to secure the long-term future of one of the last remaining steamships have been unveiled. A charitable trust is taking full ownership of the Loch Katrine-based Sir Walter Scott and is planning to make a number of improvements.
The Clyde-built ship, which carries 75,000 passengers a year, has been in operation since 1899.
The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Trust has launched a campaign to raise extra funds to safeguard its future.
The trust also wants to ensure it has enough money to secure the future of the Trossachs Pier visitor centre.
It is hoped the improvements will substantially increase visitor numbers.
Based at Loch Katrine in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, the Sir Walter Scott is 110ft long and 19ft wide.
It is the only single screw propelled inland water steamship in the UK and has carried millions of passengers since its launch.
