Glasgow's schools programme is close to reaching another milestone with a new primary school nearing completion.

Crookston Castle Primary, one of Glasgow's newest schools, is due to open in the next few weeks.

The 261m scheme has seen more than 20 new pre-12 schools and campuses built with another 16 in the pipeline.

Bailie Margaret McCafferty, Glasgow City Council's executive member for education services, viewed progress at the school in the city's south side.

It is an amalgamation of McGhill, Bonnyholm and Leithland primary schools and includes a facility for children with learning difficulties.

The school is due to open to pupils in four weeks' times and will also house a day nursery.

Bailie McCafferty said: "We are building the most modern pre-12 establishments in the country and providing fantastic teaching and learning facilities for both pupils and staff.

"Hundreds of youngsters in Pollok are looking forward to moving in to their new schools later in the year."
