Passengers face rail disruption
Queen Street Station
Staff have been drafted in at Queen Street Station to help passengers
Rail passengers in Glasgow and the west of Scotland are facing disruption as a result of industrial action by Network Rail staff.

The 48-hour strike, which started at noon on Wednesday, has resulted in many services being reduced or cancelled.

The last Glasgow to Edinburgh train will run at 1800 GMT. Stagecoach said eight extra coaches were on standby between the two cities.

First ScotRail said there were no trains running north of Stirling.

There will be no services from Glasgow to Whifflet, Paisley Canal, Wemyss Bay, Cathcart Circle and Dumfries and Carlisle until Friday afternoon.

Extra staff have been drafted in at Glasgow's Queen Street Station to advise passengers.

Robert Andrew, managing Director of Stagecoach Scotland, said: "We are expecting a significant increase in demand for inter-city coach travel and we will be making hundreds of extra seats available on services linking Scotland's main cities."

Details of reduced services and cancellations are available on the First ScotRail website, on www.firstgroup.com/scotrail or by telephoning 0845 601 5929.
