The Fratellis pick up the award at the Brits ceremony
Glasgow band The Fratellis have been named best breakthrough act at this year's Brit awards.

The group, who met after placing adverts in a record shop, played their first gig less than two years ago.

The band said the accolade belonged to fans who had supported them since the beginning.

John Fratelli said: "Every gig we play is full of great fans. We're just constantly gigging, it's what we're good at and it seems to work."

The Fratellis beat James Morrison, Lily Allen, Corinne Bailey Rae and The Kooks in the category.

The best breakthrough act was voted for by BBC Radio 1 listeners.
