The Glasgow MSP has launched a consultation document

The Glasgow politician has issued a consultation paper on a bill to restrict the use of the weapons.

The proposals would severely limit the weapons for anything other than pest control or at gun clubs.

The Scottish Parliament does not have the power to ban airguns so any measures would need to be formally approved by Westminster.

Mr Sheridan highlighted recent cases involving airguns including the death of toddler Andrew Morton in Easterhouse.

The implementation of the plans may be hampered by the fact that legislation over airguns remains retained by Westminster.
