Weight management services are being established to tackle obesity |
An NHS clinic in Glasgow has been named as the best in the UK at treating obesity and weight problems by the National Obesity Forum. The Royal Infirmary's weight management programme was set up two years ago, and now treats more than a 1,000 patients each year.
It offers support and advice to people whose health is at risk due to obesity.
Doctors said the 600,000 service was value for money when compared with the long term costs of ill-health.
One in five adults in Scotland is now clinically obese, and the figure is expected to rise.
