Angelika Kluk failed to turn up to work on Monday

Strathclyde Police, which is treating the death as suspicious, has also confirmed that a 60-year-old man it wanted to speak to has been arrested.

Peter Tobin is a handyman at the church, and was one of the last people to have seen Angelika.

The 23-year-old's body was found in St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Glasgow's Anderston area.

Ms Kluk was reported missing after she had failed to turn up for work on Monday.

Her body was discovered in a police search of the church on Friday evening.

The BBC understands Mr Tobin was detained by the Metropolitan Police.

A statement by Strathclyde Police on Sunday said: "Police are treating the death as suspicious and a post mortem will take place to establish the exact cause of death.

"We can also confirm that a 60-year-old man has been arrested in another police force area in connection with an unconnected matter.

"A full report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."

Ms Kluk was last seen within the church grounds last weekend.

It was the woman's second summer in Glasgow, having visited Scotland the previous year along with her father and older sister Aneta.

On both occasions she stayed at St Patrick's chapel house where priest Father Gerry Nugent operates an "open door policy" for those in need of shelter.
