Two men who died in a car crash have been named by police. Robert Robertson and Steven McKechnie, both 23, from Girvan, Ayrshire, died when the Honda they were travelling in crashed on the A77 near Ballantrae.
The accident happened on the southbound carriageway at 1900 BST on Thursday and closed the road for about 12 hours.
Mr Robertson, who was driving, died at the scene. Mr McKechnie died a short time after being airlifted to Glasgow's Southern General Hospital.
Another male passenger, aged 24, suffered minor injuries and was treated at Ayr Hospital before being released.
No other vehicles were thought to be involved, officers said.
Police reopened the road at about 0800 BST on Friday after crash investigators spent the night examining the scene.
A report is being prepared for the procurator fiscal.
Officers at Ayr road policing unit are appealing for witnesses.
