Emergency services deal with rain

Areas of the west of Scotland have been hit by heavy showers
Strathclyde Fire and Rescue attended a number of incidents across Glasgow and the west of Scotland following heavy rain on Tuesday.

Officers were called out to Hawthorn Street in Springburn at the railway bridge and to Dawson Avenue in East Kilbride. There were no casualties.

Glasgow's Partick subway station was closed and reopened on Wednesday.

Forecasters had warned of further spells of heavy rain for the Highlands and Moray.

There were warnings of hazardous driving conditions at times overnight in northern Scotland.

Drivers on the M8 in Glasgow also experienced flooding roads when the downpour hit during rush hour.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency advised the public to take extra care and refer to its live flood warning information.

The weather is expected to settle down towards Thursday and Friday.
