Rangers captain misses Queen date
Barry Ferguson
Barry Ferguson is aiming to lead Scotland out against Ukraine
Rangers and Scotland football captain Barry Ferguson will miss out on a trip to Buckingham Palace to collect an MBE.

International commitments mean he will not be presented with the award by the Queen on 11 October.

Instead he will lead the Scottish national side against Ukraine in a Euro 2008 qualifier. A Lord-Lieutenant will present the MBE at a later date.

Ferguson, 28, from Hamilton, was recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in the summer.

He joins Ibrox legends John Greig and Ally McCoist and former boss Walter Smith, who have all been awarded an MBE.
