All the way from Russia with love

Two actresses jump out of a box sent to the BBC

The two actresses were dressed as brides and talking in Russian accents

Being quite new to the luvvie world of the festival I hadn't been able to enter into chats before with colleagues about what was the most amazing things I had been sent in the post from show promoters.

Some have had cakes, others squashed Quality Street chocolates and one even a champagne breakfast in a box.

Such are the efforts of performers to be noticed by reviewers and news reporters amid the melee of August that these unusual gifts come in thick and fast.

And thus the seasoned arts correspondent's desk can easily be identified within the newsroom at this time of year as it is cluttered with such object d'art.

So you can imagine my delight when I was called to the reception because a huge box had arrived and that I too was going to join this exclusive club.

The large brown box almost reached my waist and had my name on it.

I got the fright of my life when I opened it and out sprung two women in wedding dresses and veils.

They were talking in Russian accents and saying they had been posted from Moscow.

The duo from a show called Catch at The Zoo made me a marriage proposal but I politely declined - well I am still recovering from meeting The Chippendales this week.
