About �750,000 worth of counterfeit goods have been seized by police in a raid on a house in Edinburgh. The haul included 5975 movie DVDs, 2300 MP3 discs, 300 video games, 868 computer software discs, 1000 blank discs and 885 pornographic DVDs. A USB drive, two multi-burners, four hard drives and one laptop computer were also seized. The operation was run jointly with the Federation Against Copyright Theft and took place on Wednesday 16 April. Police are following a positive line of enquiry in relation to the seizure. Among the titles seized include recent releases such as American Gangster, The Assassination of Jesse James, Sleuth, The Bucket List and St Trinian's. A police spokesman said: "This raid was an excellent example of joint co-operation and intelligence sharing between ourselves and Federation Against Copyright Theft, and we are delighted with the results. "Piracy and the sale of counterfeit goods is something that we take extremely seriously as a force, and this operation shows our determination to tackle this kind of criminal activity." Kieron Sharp, Federation Against Copyright Theft director general, said: "This is an excellent result which took out a counterfeit operation with the potential to make substantial criminal profits. "I would like to thank Lothian and Borders Police for their efforts and look forward to further co-operation in future."
