A 35-year-old man has been airlifted to safety after breaking his ankle while fishing on rocks in Fife. The holidaymaker had been on rocks behind the St Andrews Aquarium when he fell at 0345 BST.
The Broughty Ferry RNLI all-weather lifeboat and the inshore lifeboat were called to the scene and an RAF Bulmer helicopter winched the man to safety.
A Forth Coastguard spokesman said: "Due to the precarious nature and dangerous state of the rocks we stood down."
A member of the RNLI crew caught the dramatic moment on camera as the man was airlifted to safety in an operation which concluded at 0600 BST.
The man, who phoned the emergency services from his mobile, has been undergoing treatment at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
