The scheme aims to protect homes in areas such as Lyne Burn |
A Fife town is to receive almost 11m in Scottish Executive funding for a flood prevention scheme. The money will pay for 80% of the cost of a 13m scheme for Dunfermline.
The flood prevention scheme will prevent a repeat of flooding which in recent years has affected 175 homes and businesses in areas such as Lyne Burn.
The funding will enable Fife Council to bolster defences to reduce the risk of local flooding, the Scottish Executive said.
Deputy environment minister Sarah Boyack said: "This winter we have again witnessed the misery and suffering that flooding can cause and we are determined to help local authorities, such as Fife Council, protect their vulnerable areas from flooding."
